The alert is included in the Wildfire Climate Index for between today and August 12, released by the Forest Fire Information System, part of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service.

According to the document, cited by the Spanish news agency EFE, a total of 1,478 fires have been detected across the European Union since the beginning of the year, 448 more than in the same period in 2024.

The area burned this year has also increased from 164,967 to 353,862 hectares.
