The nation of Azerbaijan is raising concerns about the Caspian Sea’s health, and has begun negotiations with Russia over the flow of the Volga River.

Sturgeon are one of the many species being threatened by lowering sea levels, as they could lose up to 45 percent of their summer and autumn habitats.
If Azerbaijan is concerned about the health of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea, perhaps they could demonstrate good faith by cleaning up their enormous offshore complex of smelly, leaking, poorly-maintained oil wells and pipeline causeways. That is not a pleasant environment, for people or for sea creatures!
