According to the promoters, the "Deslarrrguem a Arrábida!" initiative is scheduled to begin at 10 am next to the Restinguinha restaurant on the outskirts of Setúbal, followed by a walk to a picnic at Comenda Picnic Park.

The organisers state that the action, whose first signatories include university professor and environmentalist Viriato Soromenho Marques, Maria Prata, from the Reopen Galé movement, the Dunas Livres association, and Daniela Rodrigues, from the Left Bloc of Setúbal, aims to defend public access to the beaches, the picnic park, and the Arrábida mountain range.

On the other hand, they criticise the restrictions on car traffic implemented this year, starting with the gate now placed at the beginning of the road leading to the mountains and beaches, just outside Setúbal, which the City Council justifies with safety reasons, due to the degradation of several areas of the road leading to the beaches caused by the storms of January and February of this year.

In a note sent to the media, the promoters also recall that the current owners of Herdade da Comenda are claiming in court the full ownership of five beaches in Arrábida - Albarquel, Maria Esguelha, Rainha, Comenda and Rasca -, a situation they consider an attempt at undue appropriation of areas traditionally used by the population.

The idea of ​​organising the walk, which will culminate in a picnic in the picnic area, arose during a public conversation about the restrictions on access to the beaches of Arrábida promoted by the Left Bloc last Sunday, which, according to the organisers, brought together about 150 people next to the Albarquel Urban Park.
