On average respondents picked 91 years, though preferences varied by demographics, running higher among men and Black adults, and lower among women and Asian Americans.

However, actual U.S life expectancy shows that women and Asian Americans live longest, men and Black Americans have shorter lives, and longevity increases with age, meaning today’s 65-year-olds can expect to live longer than newborns because early life risks have already been survived by that point in life.
