The alert follows successive complaints from immigrants who did not receive their updated residence permit due to a lack of updated address information on AIMA's platforms.
Regarding the NISS, AIMA clarifies that the data must be updated; otherwise, it is impossible to proceed with the nationality application process.
AIMA's Strategy
In order to resolve the problems, AIMA has opened a new online service aimed at facilitating the process.
To update their data, immigrants should follow steps such as accessing the contact form, choosing "Renewal Portal" as the subject, and in the sub-subject, selecting the option that refers to updating the address.
After submitting the new data, AIMA promises to resolve the situation within two business days.
Enter the NISS number
A strategy for the NISS number has also been implemented, with the promise of a resolution to be presented within two days.
As with updating the address, immigrants will need to use an online form. Although all processes are the same, in the sub-subject, immigrants must indicate whether they wish to correct or enter their NISS number.

Reference to Nationality process is misplaced. AIMA does not deal with Nationality. Also, the Portal is rejecting attempts to update info by anyone whose card is not yet expiring. This is important information to include, otherwise tens of thousands will attempt to do this only to be rejected.

Is it too much to ask to put the link in the article? My wife went to the AIMA site. When you go to the correct page, the option you mentioned in the article are not accurate. Updating your NISS is not an option fr the deopdown

Can you please provide the link to take us to this contact form for updating the NIFF - the AIMA website is not easy to negotiate if you don’t know where you want to look! Thanks

Can you provide a link for the AIMA site you're referencing? I've search the entire AIMA site and there is only information, I see no area where I can enter/update information.

Sorry, delete my last comment - I’ve found how to get to the right link but after uploading all the information to get my NISS added, because I don’t need to renew my D7 until September, they wouldn’t let me add my number to my information. AS there have been so many delays I was trying to get all of my ducks in line………

I contacted AIMA by email in August 2025 requesting an appointment to update my address, NADA!

This article is misleading. AIMA are not using this portal for updating data like NISS on existing residency data. It can only be used if (according to the error pop up that comes up when you try to submit a NISS ) "Your request has not been submitted due to the following issues:
This title change request can only be made for titles that expire by the end of next month". So it is useless for updating a NISS registered after AIMA had your application to upgrade from Temporary to Permanent Residency. Please clarify this article and give what you need to do if you need to update NISS on non expiring residency cards.

After reading this article I attempted to update my address. It was established by SEF 2.5 years ago. As we are up for renewal in August 2026 I hoped to get ahead of the situation. I attempted to register on the AIMA site. Unfortunately, I got an error message that suggested that I was an unidentified citizen or did not have access to this system. HELP!

My husband and I are 1.75 years through our D7 visa and have tried several ways to acquire a NISS number but cannot find a way to get it. ANY helpful suggestions would be welcomed. In perso at the social security office, they refuse to help saying it must be done on line AFTER receiving a stamped letter from AIMA saying why someone on a retirement visa needs a NIDS number and if you say it's for visa renewal the NISS number will not be issued. A visit to the AIMA office refused us an appointment and were told to apply on the portal for an appointment, can't get an appointment online without the NISS..... Our visa runs out in May 2026. ANY ideas? Thanks
