The 2025 annual report shows a decline in violent crime and domestic abuse. At the national level, Spain records about 0.6 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants annually, which is among the lowest rates in Europe.

Police also resolved nearly all reported sexual assault cases involving penetration, handled by the Judicial Police Brigade’s Specialised and Violent Crime Unit. Two of the murders investigated in 2025 were classified as gender-based crimes, involving female victims killed by intimate partners.
