Business deposits also saw strong growth, totalling €75.6 billion at the end of 2025—an increase of €6.2 billion compared with the end of 2024, according to the Bank of Portugal. This represents a 9.2 percent annual growth rate, up from 7.9 percent the previous year.

The Bank of Portugal has published updated statistics on bank loans and deposits for businesses and individuals for December 2025, revealing that, last year, deposits from individuals grew by 4.5 percent, exceeding €200 billion in total.

However, despite overall growth in total deposits, individual deposits grew less than in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 4.5 percent. In 2024, the annual growth rate increased to 7.3 percent.

"At the end of 2025, the stock of deposits from individuals in resident banks totalled €201.0 billion, €8.3 billion more than at the end of 2024," says the central bank note.

By type, demand deposits increased by €6.0 billion to €86.2 billion, and time deposits (including deposits with agreed terms and deposits with prior notice) rose by €2.3 billion to €114.8 billion.

Corporate deposits in Portuguese banks reached €75.6 billion by the end of 2025, up €6.2 billion from the end of 2024, according to the Bank of Portugal. This marks a 9.2 percent annual growth rate, higher than the 7.9 percent increase recorded in 2024.
