On 14 June, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he had reached an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, whose closure has caused serious disruptions because about 20% of the world's oil transits through this route.
In exchange for the reopening, the United States will lift the maritime blockade imposed on the entry and exit of ships in Iranian ports, according to Trump on the social network Truth Social.
With this agreement, the war that began on 28 February, in the wake of the offensive launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, will be brought to an end.
Although there are still technical issues regarding the Iranian nuclear program, the delegations will hold preparatory meetings during the week, before the official signing scheduled for Friday, 19 June, in Switzerland.
