“The Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup match between FC Porto and Torreense, taking place this Saturday at 8:15 pm at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, will go down in Portuguese football history: the government, through a joint order by the Minister of Home Affairs (Luís Neves), the Minister of Health (Ana Paula Martins), and the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport (Margarida Balseiro Lopes), has authorized a pilot project for the sale, distribution, and consumption of low-alcohol beverages,” the FPF stated.

The organisation led by Pedro Proença explains that this pilot project, proposed by the FPF and approved by the government, serves as a preparatory test for the 2030 World Cup, which Portugal will co-host with Spain and Morocco.

The aim is to assess the feasibility of allowing the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in stadiums during the tournament.
