The festivities took place roughly a month after the Limerick team won the national title at Croke Park, in an event marked by a summery atmosphere and a strong turnout from the county’s sports community.
The bride, a native of Dromcollogher-Broadford and a science, chemistry, and biology teacher, chose a fit-and-flare gown featuring a cowl neckline and a short train, completing the look with a sleek, pulled-back hairstyle and a flowing veil.

She arrived at the ceremony venue in a cream-colored vintage car.
Meanwhile, the groom, a business management teacher and a contender for the Player of the Year award, wore dark trousers, a waistcoat, a white shirt, and a bow tie.
Although the couple had already formalised their civil union in their home country a few months earlier, the celebration in Portugal brought together athletes, coaching staff, and officials from the Limerick federation.

Notable guests included the groom’s groomsmen, Seán Finn and David Reidy, as well as footballers Kyle Hayes and Declan Hannon, and the hurling team captain, Cian Lynch. Departing from the traditional formality of Irish weddings, many of the male guests adapted their attire to the Algarve climate, opting for suits in neutral and beige tones. Meanwhile, the women stood out in flowing dresses and vibrant colours.

The festive reception also featured the traditional couple’s dance to the song “Dreams” by the Irish band The Cranberries. The occasion also marked the 32nd birthday of Gearóid Hegarty, who, just days before the trip to Portugal, had been honoured by his home club, St. Patrick’s, with a commemorative painting.
