Portugal exported nearly 2.2 billion euros in high-tech goods in the first half of 2026, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) provided to Negócios.
This represents an increase of 35 million euros compared with the same period in 2025, with higher telecommunications sales accounting for most of the growth.
High-tech exports rose by 1.6 percent year on year in the first half of 2026. These products are classified as high-tech because they require substantial investment in research and development (R&D) and involve a high degree of technical sophistication, Essential Business reports.
The growth rate was marginally below the overall increase in Portuguese exports, which stood at 1.7 percent. However, the performance brings Portugal closer to a new annual record for exports of high-tech goods.
