According to a statement from the local government, the municipal executive approved a proposal during today’s public meeting to submit a declaration of municipal public interest to the Municipal Assembly on installing a cargo airfield in the municipality.

Speaking to the Lusa news agency, the Mayor of Albergaria, Carlos Coelho (CDS-PP), explained that this private investment could be located in the southern part of the municipality, covering an area of ​​approximately 400 hectares.

If realised, the local authority notes, this would be one of the largest investments ever made in the municipality and would be strategically important for the area’s future.

“The project could boost and diversify the local economy, attract new companies, create jobs, and encourage residents to settle in the area, while also generating opportunities for existing businesses through access to new markets, clients, and partnerships,” the statement adds.
