More than 70% of searches for Chinese car brands on Standvirtual are now for electric vehicles, which reflects the growing adoption of electric mobility in Portugal, according to a new study by the OLX Group.
The report, The Great Acceleration: East Meets Electric, found that 70.6% of searches for Chinese car brands on the platform in June were for electric models, Jornal Económico reports.
Portugal recorded the highest share among the five markets analysed, ahead of France, Romania, Poland and South Africa, emphasising Portugal’s importance as one of Europe’s strongest markets for electric vehicles.
In June alone, electric models accounted for 14.9% of all contacts registered on Standvirtual, ahead of France, where they represented 9.4%.
Among Portuguese consumers, MG, BYD and Xpeng generated the highest levels of interest. MG and BYD also ranked among the most searched Chinese brands in four of the five markets analysed in the study.
According to the OLX Group, these figures reflect the growing role Chinese car brands are playing in Portugal’s shift towards electric mobility.
