The survey was carried out over a 569 square kilometre area of the Scottish national park with LiDAR scanning, documenting height data for over six million trees through AI-supported data analysis.

These new technologies are expected to provide a great help to forest managers, especially with tracking tree growth and wildfire impact. The analysis has already shown that tree growth is more prevalent in dry areas, as opposed to boglands.
