We had been hearing about a new pastry place in Alvor, and after seeing some of their beautiful cakes, we decided it was time to have a look for ourselves.
A’Carob can be found in Alvor, as well as in Portimão, and if you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely a place to add to your list.

The first thing that catches your eye is, of course, the pastry counter. The cakes look almost too beautiful to eat – but trust us, they taste just as good. The focus is on French-style pâtisserie, with colourful individual cakes, éclairs and other delicate creations that make choosing just one quite difficult.
Behind A’Carob is Chef Candido Santos, who brought years of international experience back home to the Algarve. His career has taken him around the world, including five-star hotels and resorts in places such as the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Romania, Macau, Switzerland and Dubai.

But despite the impressive-looking cakes, A’Carob isn't only somewhere to stop for coffee and something sweet. The menu includes breakfast and brunch options, plus main courses with fish, meat, and vegetarian options.
Of course, we couldn't leave without trying something from the pastry counter ourselves. With so many tempting options on display, this might be one of those cafés where one visit simply isn't enough.
