The school transportation plan is expected to cover 370 students “residing in scattered or isolated areas, where the use of public transport would entail waiting times exceeding 45 minutes or travel times of more than 60 minutes for a one-way trip.”
Also included are “students covered by inclusive education measures who have mobility difficulties—as defined by current legislation—and whose need for transportation has been duly identified and validated by the Directorate-General for School Establishments.”
The plan, which represents a total estimated investment of 679,085.46 euros, also encompasses “students who have had to relocate due to the closure of educational institutions.”
The plan “is the result of collaborative work with school clusters, transport operators, and parish councils,” and it remains “subject to adjustments should any situational, legal, or regulatory changes occur.”
The municipality will monitor implementation through various evaluation stages, in close coordination with the school clusters and transport operators.
Regarding financial aid, the municipality will invest “14,000 euros in teaching materials and 197,000 euros in meal subsidies,” benefiting approximately 1,000 students classified under tiers A and B (corresponding to social security tiers 1 and 2).
The meal subsidy includes a “25% reduction for households with two children in the school system, and a 50% reduction for families with three or more children in the school system.” This measure is estimated to cover approximately 521 students, representing an increase in meal-related costs of around 20,000 euros compared to the previous year.
The support includes “the implementation of free access to the ‘Activities and Family Support’ (AAAF) component in kindergartens, which will encompass an estimated 799 children.”
