According to the Civil Protection Commander, Antonio Cruz, the road that passes under the Eiffel bridge is also flooded, a recurring situation that occurs when rainfall coincides with the rise of the Lima River, as well as the area where the tennis club and the youth hostel are located.
António Cruz said that the Argaçosa tunnel, in the parish of Meadela, is closed to traffic and added that the same may happen in the Areosa tunnel.
"The impact of the rain is only on road traffic," stressed the Municipal Civil Protection Commander.
A fire truck and the Viana do Castelo PSP (Public Security Police) attended the scene.
