The prize aims to encourage original works by Portuguese-language writers on the theme of ecology. It will honour two unpublished works: one in literary fiction and one in non-fiction, provided the works have not been submitted to any other contest with a pending decision.

Anyone can apply, regardless of nationality, as long as the work is written in Portuguese.

The jury, appointed by the Ermo Association, will consist of prominent figures from the Portuguese-language literary and cultural scene. The winners will be announced by June 15. Submissions will be evaluated based on literary quality, relevance to the theme, and originality.

Each winner—one in Fiction and one in Non-Fiction—will receive a monetary prize of €3,000.

Submissions must be sent by March 31 to ermoassociacao@gmail.com, with the subject line indicating either:

Wild Strawberry Tree Award 26 – Fiction

Wild Strawberry Tree Award 26 – Non-Fiction, as appropriate.
