The “24 Game” is a card-based mathematical challenge in which players use basic arithmetic operations to reach the number 24. While simple in concept, the game demands quick thinking, concentration and strong numerical reasoning, making it both educational and highly engaging.
The event was organised by CJD’s Mathematics Department, with the support of Year 11 and Year 12 students, who played an active role in coordinating activities and welcoming participants. More than seven schools took part in the initiative, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere that remained friendly and inclusive throughout the day.
Participants demonstrated impressive calculation skills and determination, with several closely contested rounds highlighting both individual talent and the importance of teamwork. All students were recognised for their effort and enthusiasm, with particular congratulations extended to the winners for their outstanding performance and spirit of sportsmanship.

Though a mathematics tournament, the event extended well beyond maths itself. In addition to the competition, students took part in a range of complementary activities, including robotics sessions, board games and outdoor moments, contributing to a dynamic and well-rounded learning experience. These activities reinforced the importance of learning beyond the classroom, encouraging curiosity, interaction and creativity.

The initiative reflects CJD’s broader educational approach, where academic development is furthered through engaging and meaningful experiences which promote both intellectual and personal growth. By creating opportunities for students to challenge themselves in different contexts, the school continues to foster a culture of participation, discovery and innovation.
Following the success of this event’s second edition, there is clear anticipation for a third tournament in the future. The enthusiasm shown by students and schools alike suggests that “24 Game” has become a valued fixture in the academic calendar, with strong potential to grow and inspire even more participants in the years ahead.
