According to the decree published in the Official Gazette, signed by the Ministers of Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, and Health, Ana Paula Martins, the Amadora/Sintra Local Health Unit (ULS) (19 vacancies) has the largest number of vacancies for General and Family Medicine.

This is followed by the Leiria Region ULS (18), the Arco Ribeirinho ULS (13), the Loures-Odivelas ULS (nine), and the Arrábida ULS (nine).

In hospital specialities, the highest number of vacant positions is in Anesthesiology (30), followed by Gynaecology/Obstetrics (27), Internal Medicine (26), General Surgery (16), Paediatrics (15), Orthopaedics (14), and Cardiology (10).

In the Public Health area, 13 positions are eligible for incentives.

In 2025, 216 vacant positions were opened for hospital specialities: 97 for General and Family Medicine and 11 for Public Health.

In the decree, the Government states that, within the maximum quota of 332 job positions, the Minister of Health may reallocate positions and redefine specialities or health establishments if necessary.
