A 63-year-old nurse from Southsea, in Hampshire, said she had been warned that the plane had run out of protective cup lids before the injury on her flight from Bournemouth to Majorca.

The nurse mentioned that her experience in healthcare prevented her from sustaining more serious injuries; she showed concerns, according to BBC News, if the accident happened with a child or an elderly person.

According to Elliot, she wanted to treat her injury with a wet cloth or an ice pack; however, the cabin crew did not seem experienced or prepared for that kind of situation.
