SPAIC's Pollen Bulletin forecasts high levels of atmospheric pollen across mainland Portugal next week. The main pollens are from olive, pine, cork oak, grasses, plantain, goosefoot, sorrel, nettle, and nettle-family plants (including pellitory).
North
In the north of the country—specifically in Vila Real (Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region), Porto (Entre Douro and Minho region), and Coimbra (Beira Litoral region)—and in the centre of the country in Castelo Branco (Beira Interior region), in addition to the aforementioned species, there will also be atmospheric pollen concentrations from birch and oak trees.
Lisbon and Setúbal
The regions of Lisbon and Setúbal, as well as the district of Faro in the Algarve, will likewise experience atmospheric pollen concentrations from oak trees.
Islands
Funchal (Madeira Island) currently has low atmospheric pollen. The most notable pollen sources are cypress, pine, eucalyptus, and plane trees, along with grasses, plantain, goosefoot, nettle, and nettle-family plants (including pellitory).
In Ponta Delgada (Azores, São Miguel), atmospheric pollen is also low.
The main pollens come from cypress (and/or cryptomeria) and pine trees, as well as grasses, plantain, nettle, and nettle-family plants (including pellitory).
