According to data from the European Union’s statistical office, the indicator rose again in the eurozone in July, after a slight decline in June (2.8%), and stands above the 2% recorded in the same month of 2025.

Among Member States, the highest year-on-year inflation rates in July 2026 were recorded in Romania (8.2%), Lithuania (5.4%), and Cyprus and Bulgaria (both at 4.4%).

Portugal recorded a rate of 3.1%, placing it above the eurozone and European Union averages.

The countries with the lowest inflation increases were Sweden (0.3%), Czechia (1.3%), and Denmark and Hungary (1.6%).

Energy prices saw the largest annual rise, increasing by 10.3%, followed by services (3.3%).

Excluding energy, the statistical office indicates that the year-on-year inflation rate in the eurozone stood at 2.2%.

However, Eurostat notes that services contributed most to the rise in inflation (adding 1.55 percentage points to the index), followed by energy (0.94 percentage points).
