Last Sunday morning, 30 August, participants joined a Zumba session on the beach, part of the Animação Desportiva de Verão programme organised by Silves Council.

The programme has been running throughout the summer and offers a different activity almost every morning from Tuesday to Sunday.

Classes start at 10.15am, with Pilates on Tuesdays, aerobics and localised training on Wednesdays, Zumba on Thursdays, yoga on Fridays, Afrofusion on Saturdays and another Zumba class on Sundays.

Participation is completely free, and there is no need to register in advance – anyone interested can simply turn up and join the class.

Silves Council launched the summer programme to encourage residents and visitors to stay active while making use of Armação de Pêra's beachfront setting.

As well as the regular morning classes, this year's programme has included beach volleyball tournaments and Sunsets & Cycling sessions.

The final scheduled Sunsets & Cycling event of the summer will take place on 5 September at 7pm.

The morning fitness programme is advertised as running during the summer months, giving both residents and holidaymakers the chance to exercise outdoors while enjoying one of the Algarve's busiest summer destinations.
