Led by chef Rui Sequeira, the restaurant was recognised for its contemporary tribute to the Algarve, bringing the total number of award-winning restaurants in the Algarve region to eight.

The guide highlighted the restaurant's mastery of local fish and seafood, and its ability to blend modern techniques with traditional recipes, including tasting menus inspired by regional legends and vegetarian options that favour seasonality.

This distinction comes in a year of strong growth for Portuguese cuisine, which now has 44 establishments with a Michelin star, after ten new names were added to the list. Porto was one of the big stars of this edition, with four new restaurants achieving one star (DOP, Éon, Gastro by Elemento and In Diferente), while in Lisbon, the Fifty Seconds restaurant rose to the two-star category.

Nationally, the guide now features nine restaurants with two stars, consolidating Portugal as a ‘first-rate’ gastronomic destination undergoing a period of great creative effervescence.

In addition to Alameda, the Algarve strengthened its presence in the guide with new recommendations, such as Pearl (Faro) and DUOO Gastro Theatre (Portimão). Another highlight of this edition was the restaurant A Cozinha do Paço, in Évora, which achieved its first star and was simultaneously awarded a Green Star for its sustainable practices in the Alentejo.

With a total of 210 restaurants selected — including 26 Bib Gourmands and 131 recommendations — the 2026 Michelin Guide reaffirms the balance between modernity and respect for local products of excellence that defines contemporary Portuguese cuisine.
