To offer a comprehensive, evidence-based framework, a dedicated five-day retreat, "Menopause – Iyengar Yoga Retreat," will take place in Silves, Algarve, from 4th to 8th November 2026.

Organised by Medin Meno Health Care, the retreat combines specialised medical knowledge, integrative medicine, and targeted movement to support women’s health through menopause and beyond.

The programme is co-led by Dr Carmen Klink Bartzsch, a specialist gynaecologist with expertise in female hormonal health and integrative medicine, alongside Georgia Marnham, a Level III certified Iyengar Yoga teacher.

A Truly Holistic Framework

Effective menopause care sits at the intersection of medical science, targeted lifestyle adjustments, and therapeutic movement. While hormone therapy and conventional medical treatments remain essential pillars for many, long-term health and symptom relief are greatly enhanced when combined with active lifestyle strategies.

"Women should never feel like passive recipients of medical treatments," explains Dr Klink Bartzsch. "It is vital to provide women with actionable tools so they can actively take charge of their own health and prevention. Integrative care is about empowerment. From my clinical experience and personal practice, Iyengar Yoga is a remarkably effective modality in this process. A growing body of scientific studies demonstrates that yoga plays a crucial role in reducing menopause symptoms, improving bone density, lowering stress, and supporting overall cardiorespiratory and mental health."

Integrating Medicine and Mindful Movement

Rather than viewing medical treatments and lifestyle modifications in isolation, the retreat offers a joined-up approach:

• Expert Medical Insights: Participants receive individual pre-assessments before the retreat to tailor guidance to their specific health profiles. Educational sessions cover hormonal balance, medical options, preventative strategies, and evidence-based lifestyle adjustments.

• Therapeutic Iyengar Yoga: Daily structured sessions address hormonal fluctuations, joint mobility, strength, and stress reduction. Iyengar Yoga emphasises precision, alignment, and the deliberate use of props, making it adaptable and safe for every body type and ability.

• Supportive Environment: Held in a peaceful setting in Silves, the small group size fosters an encouraging, collaborative space, complemented by healthy meals designed to support metabolic and hormonal balance.

Empowering Women’s Health

By uniting medical expertise, integrative therapies, and evidence-based yoga practices, the retreat equips women with both knowledge and practical routines for sustained well-being.
