The first edition of Travessas is now underway in Lagos, inviting residents and visitors to discover some of the city's restaurants through a simple concept: food made for sharing.

Running until 31 October, the initiative includes 26 participating restaurants, each of which has created its own "Travessa" to share between up to four people.

The offer costs €20 and also includes four drinks.

While the price and format remain the same across the participating restaurants, what arrives at the table will depend entirely on where you choose to eat.

Traditional flavours

The dishes range from traditional Portuguese flavours to more international options, with Monchique-style roast meat, veal pica-pau, baos, polpettas, pasta and brunch-inspired creations among the choices available during the event.

The idea is not only to enjoy a meal at a special price, but also to encourage people to try restaurants they may not normally visit.

There are no tickets, passes or fixed routes involved. Diners can simply choose one of the participating restaurants and order its Travessa directly at the establishment.

The initiative is aimed at locals as well as Portuguese and international visitors, while also giving Lagos restaurants additional visibility after the busiest months of the summer season.

Travessas is organised by ISMOS, with the support of Lagos City Council and the Algarve Tourism Region.

Organisers describe the event as more than a gastronomic route, with the concept inspired by Lagos' historic connection to discovery and the idea of exploring new places, cultures and flavours.

This time, however, the discovery happens around the table.

The first Travessas continues across Lagos until 31 October, giving diners almost the entire month to work their way through some of the 26 different creations on offer.
